Shah Rukh Khan mourns advertising icon Piyush Pandey, Calls him ‘Genius’ who revolutionised Indian ads

Advertising icon Piyush Pandey passed away at 70. He created many famous ad campaigns that changed Indian advertising and Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, paid heartfelt tributes to the creative genius.

Piyush Pandey, the man behind the advertisements of Fevicol, Cadbury and more, passed away at 70. As per report, he was suffering from an infection. He worked in the advertising industry for around four decades and the Chief Creative Officer Worldwide and Executive Chairman India of Ogilvy. Shah Rukh Khan paid a heartfelt tribute, calling the ad legend’s work “effortless and fun.”

Sharing a picture of Pandey on his X account, Shah Rukh wrote, “Working and being around Piyush Pandey always felt effortless and fun. Was an honour being part of the pure magic he created. He carried his genius so lightly and revolutionised the ad industry in India. Rest in Peace my friend. Will miss you lots.”

Several Bollywood personalities also expressed their grief. Hansal Mehta wrote, “Fevicol ka jod toot gaya. The ad world lost its glue today. Go well Piyush Pandey.” Amitabh Bachchan described him as “a creative genius .. a most amiable friend, and guide .. has left us .. No words to express our grief ..” Actor Piyush Mishra added, “Ab is ghar mein Piyush nahin rehta hai ! RIP. My deepest condolences.”

PM Modi expressed his grief upon hearing about the demise of Piyush Pandey and paid tribute to him. He wrote on X, “Shri Piyush Pandey Ji was admired for his creativity. He made a monumental contribution to the world of advertising and communications. I will fondly cherish our interactions over the years. Saddened by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

Pandey, who started his career in the 1980s created some of the country’s most iconic campaigns, including Fevicol’s Jod Ke Rakhe Hamesha, Cadbury’s Kuch Khaas Hai, and Asian Paints’ Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai. He was also the one behind the iconic 2014 election slogan “Ab Ki Baar, Modi Sarkar,” which played a pivotal role during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election campaign.

Piyush Pandey was also honoured with the Padma Shri award in 2016.
