Shaakuntalam box office collection Day 6: Samantha’s mythological film Shaakuntalam is a huge disaster at the box office. Soon it could be banished from the theatre as well. Kalidasa’s Sanskrit drama Abhijnanamshakuntalam is the inspiration for Shaankuntalam.
It tells the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant from the Mahabharata. The film has failed to deliver on its promise of an impact. The film is struggling to attract the audience to theatres.

Samantha’s Shaakuntalam, directed by Gunasekhar, is a legend. The movie has been widely distributed in Indian languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. However, the audience’s response was mixed. On day 6 April 19, the film did not make a lot of money.
Shaakuntalam is estimated to have earned only 15 Lakhs, which is a huge drop from the previous days’ earnings, according to the early trade reports. This is a small amount, and the film’s likely to lose money.

About the Film
The mythical play Shaakuntalam was written and directed by Gunasekhar. Shakuntala, a play by Kalidasa, is the source for the movie. Dev Mohan will play King Dushyanta, and Samantha will play Shakuntala.
Supporting actors include Mohan Babu, Gautami, Aditi Balan, and Ananya Nagalla. On February 17, The film will debut in theatres worldwide in a variety of languages.
