The high-profile federal trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs on sex trafficking charges got underway officially on Monday in New York City. The first day was a time of jury selection and a surprise interruption when Combs informed the court that he was “a little nervous” and requested a restroom break after which the room fell silent as Combs admitted his nervousness just minutes into the process. The judge granted a brief recess before jury selection resumed.
Earlier there were reports that Diddy is permitted to have up to five button-down shirts, up to five pairs of pants,up to five sweaters, up to five pairs of socks and up to two pairs of shoes without laces to wear to court. This ruling enables Diddy to appear before the court in less sensational, civilian clothes instead of jail uniforms, a gesture that is frequently allowed in celebrity cases in order to keep jury perception neutral.
