The sudden demise of veteran actor and comedian Satish Shah on October 25 has left the entertainment industry in deep shock. The 74 year old actor, best known for his iconic comic timing and beloved role in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, passed away due to kidney failure.
His death has left the Bollywood industry, television stars, and fans in mourning, with celebrities expressing condolences, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sharing his grief.
According to several media reports, Shah’s last rites will be performed today, October 26, at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai. His body will first be brought home from the hospital before being taken to the crematorium, where he will be cremated around 12 noon in the presence of family and close friends.
Many Bollywood celebrities have shared tributes on social media, including Karan Johar, Johnny Lever, Farah Khan, Rakesh Bedi, Kareena Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Sachin Pilgaonkar, and Paresh Rawal. Some of them are expected to attend the funeral. Videos of Johnny Lever, Anupam Kher, and Rakesh Bedi expressing their grief are going viral online.

According to P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre in Mumbai, Satish Shah was found unresponsive at his residence and could not be revived despite the best efforts of the medical team.
Who was Satish Shah?
Born Satish Ravilal Shah in 1950 or 1951 in Mandvi, Gujarat, he was a graduate of Xavier’s College and later attended the Film and Television Institute of India. Shah was renowned for his versatility and comic timing, appearing in over 250 films and numerous television shows.
Some of his most memorable work includes Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984), Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004), Main Hoon Na (2004), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Fanaa (2006), and Om Shanti Om (2007). On television, he was celebrated for playing 55 different characters in 55 episodes of Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and the iconic Indravadhan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. He also co-judged Comedy Circus in 2008 and served as a member of the Film and Television Institute of India society in 2015.
