Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s personal life became a topic of discussion for everyone after she decided to part ways with husband and actor Naga Chaitanya. Several trollers passed derogatory remarks and called her out with mean names such as “second hand” and “used.” Finally after three long years, the actor spoke about the mental harassment and trolling she went through and how it affected her.
During her interaction with Galatta, the actress said, “When a woman goes through a divorce, a lot of shame and stigma attached it. I get a lot of comments like ‘second hand’, ‘used’ ‘wasted life.’ You are pushed into a corner where you are supposed to feel like a failure, guilt and shame that you were once married and not. I do believe it can be hard for families and girls who have gone through that. Initially it really hurt a lot but then later I decided to flip it and I to own it. Yeah…I am separated, divorced, and things have not been a fairytale. But that doesn’t mean that I sit in a corner and cry about it like I never ever had the courage to live again.”
Samantha also shared that there were so many occasions where she wanted to slam the trolls and tell them that ‘this is not correct, let me tell you the truth.’ But she pulled her back thinking people who mattered to her know the truth.
On re-designing her wedding dress
The ‘Kushi’ actor also talked about her much-controversial decision to redesign her wedding outfit after divorce and clarified that it was not out of revenge. “It wasn’t any kind of revenge or anything although it looked like it. Divorce doesn’t mean my life ends there, it begins where it ends, and I am very very happy right now. I am happy that I have grown so much, doing incredible work and with incredible people and I am looking forward to the next phase of my life.”
Days after her divorce announcement, the actor dyed her dress in black colour and also gave it an interesting twist. She also posted several photos on Instagram in the outfit.
