Superstar Salman Khan has recently shared his views on the struggles of the Bollywood films. During the promoting of his upcoming film Sikandar, Salman addressed the ongoing slump in Bollywood and says the quality of the films are the reason behind this.
Salman Khan On Bollywood Failures
During the press event, Salman talked alot about his film and other verticals. He also did not hold back while talking about going down of Bollywood’s box office performance. He said “Jab itni gandi pictures banengi toh flop toh hongi hi. Jab banti hi gandi films hain” (When bad films are made, they are bound to flop).
He said that even his own films are not away from this reality. He said: “Including my own film, if it doesn’t work, it is a bad film. If it works, it is a very good film.”
As per Salman, when a film fails the blame is primarily given to the actors. “The star is the one who is seen on the poster, in the theatre. The blame would be on him too if the films don’t work.”

The Tiger Zinda hai actor also criticised filmmakers for focusing on impressing each other rather than making films that truly resonates with audiences. He stated that, “Everyone wants to show the other person how a movie is made. No, you have to make a film for the audience. You have to write it in such a way that you are sitting in the front row and enjoying it.”
He also highlighted the influence of OTT platforms, stating that audiences now have access to global cinema and expect better content. “With OTT coming in, the audience has access to any film and all types of cinema from anywhere.”
Films Should Be Made for the Right Reasons
Salman further revealed a piece of advice from his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan. “My father told me this the other day. A film should only be made once you have the best script ever. Nothing else.”
He criticised the industry’s approach of prioritising star availability over strong scripts but remained optimistic that Bollywood would soon bounce back.
