The film and TV industry mourned the death of actor Satish Shah. His last rites were held in Mumbai on Sunday morning, a day after he passed away from kidney failure at the age of 74.
Salman Khan, who shared screen space with Shah in multiple films, paid a heartfelt tribute on social media. Sharing a throwback picture from their 1997 hit Judwaa, where Satish played a hilarious police constable, Salman wrote: “Known u since I was 15… life lived kingsize.. May your soul rest in peace. Will miss u, Satish Ji…”

Family, friends, and numerous celebrities gathered at Satish Shah’s Bandra residence to offer their final respects. Notable attendees included Jackie Shroff, Kunal Kohli, David Dhawan, Naseeruddin Shah, Johnny Lever, Anjan Srivastav, Ashoke Pandit, Pankaj Kapoor, Ali Asgar, and Dilip Joshi.
The cast of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Ratna Pathak Shah, Rajesh Kumar, Rupali Ganguly, Sumeet Raghvan, Deven Bhojani, and Jamnadas Majethia also paid their respects. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray was present at the antim darshan.
The cremation took place at a Bandra crematorium, attended by family members. Emotional moments were captured on camera, including Rupali Ganguly breaking down in her car upon arrival.
Satish Shah’s career
Born Satish Ravilal Shah in 1950 or 1951 in Mandvi, Gujarat, he was a graduate of Xavier’s College and later attended the Film and Television Institute of India. Shah was renowned for his versatility and comic timing, appearing in over 250 films and numerous television shows.
Some of his most memorable work includes Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984), Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004), Main Hoon Na (2004), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Fanaa (2006), and Om Shanti Om (2007). On television, he was celebrated for playing 55 different characters in 55 episodes of Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and the iconic Indravadhan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. He also co-judged Comedy Circus in 2008 and served as a member of the Film and Television Institute of India society in 2015.
