Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been living amid tight security ever since his friend and NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai. Salman was allegedly blamed for his death and has received several threats from the Bishnoi gang ever since. Now, a report by PTI confirms that Salman has received yet another death threat, allegedly from a Bishnoi gang member.
Sources said that Mumbai Police’s Traffic Control Unit received the threatening message on Monday evening. The message read, “This is Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother. If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our [Bishnoi community] temple and apologize or pay Rs 5 crore. If he does not do so, we will kill him; our gang is still active.”
Police have started investigating and are trying to trace the sender of the message. The incident came to light when an officer on duty in the traffic control room read the message around midnight.
Meanwhile, police have arrested a man from Jamshedpur in connection with the Salman Khan case. The accused, identified as Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin (24), a vegetable seller, threatened Salman to extort money.
Sheikh sent a message to Mumbai traffic police officials on October 18, demanding money to spare Salman’s life. It read, “Don’t take it lightly; if Salman Khan wants to stay alive and end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, he will have to pay Rs 5 crore. If the money is not given, Salman Khan’s condition will be worse than Baba Siddique’s.” Three days later, Shaikh sent another message apologizing for the threat and calling it a mistake.
Salman began receiving death threats following accusations of hunting and killing two blackbucks during the shoot of his film Hum Saath Saath Hain in Rajasthan, in 1998. Since blackbucks are considered sacred to the Bishnoi sect, the incident caused widespread outrage. However, in a recent interview, Salman’s father, Salim Khan, denied his involvement, stating that Salman was not the one who killed the blackbucks.
