Varinder Singh Ghuman, a bodybuilder and actor from Punjab, passed away on October 9 due to a heart attack. His sudden demise came as a shock to his fans and well-wishers, who expressed their grief upon hearing the heartbreaking news.
Several artists and politicians paid tribute to the late actor and remembered his work on social media.
Salman Khan, Ghuman’s co-star from Tiger 3, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, saying, “Rest in peace praa. Vil miss paaji.”

Similarly, Sidharth Malhotra posted a throwback picture with Ghuman from Marjaavaan, writing “Om Shanti” alongside a heartbreak emoji, while director Milap Zaveri shared memories from the film set, expressing his shock and sorrow. Punjab’s former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa also mourned Ghuman’s passing, highlighting his contribution to sports and his global recognition.
Who was Varinder Singh Ghuman?
He won the Mr. India title in 2009 and secured second place in Mr. Asia. Originally from Gurdaspur, Punjab, Ghuman was also recognized as the world’s first vegetarian professional bodybuilder. In addition to his bodybuilding achievements, he became the first Indian to earn an IFBB pro card. He was even appointed by Arnold Schwarzenegger as a brand ambassador to promote health products in Asia.
He ventured into acting with the 2012 Punjabi film ‘Kabaddi Once Again’. He later appeared in Hindi films, including Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans (2014) and Marjaavaan (2019).
