The autorickshaw driver, who rescued Saif Ali Khan and took him to Lilavati Hospital, has become a national hero. The Race actor was stabbed multiple times by an intruder who entered their house with the intention of robbery but was stopped by the actor.
Since the attack happened, people have been urging the actor to reward the auto driver, Bhajan Singh. There were reports that Saif indeed presented him a 50,000 cash prize; however, no official confirmation was given by the actor or the auto driver.
Earlier, Bhajan was awarded 11,000 rupees prize money for his noble act by a social worker named Faizan Ansari. He told IANS, “I feel very proud because I never imagined something like this would happen in my life. This recognition has brought me immense joy…”
Mika Singh Comes Out In Support
Sharing the report, Indian singer Mika took to his Instagram story and pointed out how the saviour deserves nothing less than 11 lakhs, “I strongly believe he deserves a reward of at least Rs 11 lakhs for saving India’s favorite superstar. His heroic act is truly commendable. If possible, could you please share his contact information with me? I’d like to reward him with Rs 1 lakh as a token of appreciation.”
In another story, Mika asked Saif to increase the amount of the reward and wrote, “Saif bhai isko Rs 11 lakh do. He is the real hero. Mumbai auto vala zindabad.”
Auto driver Bhajan Singh Responds To The Claims
Bhajan Singh, however, refused to comment on whether he was paid Rs 50,000 by the actor, saying he has promised Saif that he will not divulge the details. “I have promised to him (Saif) and I will stick to it. Let people speculate about it. Let people say that he (Saif) gave me Rs 50,000 or Rs 1,00,000, but I would not like to reveal the amount. He has requested me not to share this information and I’ll keep my promise to him, whatever it is, it is between him and me,” shared Bhajan, who later confirmed receiving Rs 11,000 from the social worker Faizan Ansari.
Bhajan however, shared details about his meeting with the actor, a day before he got discharged. ”I met him (Saif) yesterday (Tuesday) at the hospital. He called to thank me for taking him to the hospital. He praised me. I got the blessings from him and his family. He (Khan) introduced me to his mother (Sharmila Tagore), and I touched her feet. He gave me (money) whatever he felt was right, and said whenever I need help he will be there,” revealed the autodriver.
