Later, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, shared that the accused was not aware it was an actor’s house. “Some opposition leaders have said that after the attack on Saif Ali Khan, law and order in Mumbai have collapsed. But the reality is that the accused came from Bangladesh, first went to Kolkata and then came to Mumbai. He did not know that this was a film star’s house, and he entered the house with the intention of robbery.”

Saif Ali Khan, who sustained major injuries, including stab wounds to his thoracic spine, is currently undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital and is reported to be out of danger.

More About Vijay Das

Interestingly, the attacker had adopted the alias “Vijay Das” after entering India, according to the police. Initially, he was identified as Vijay Das, but further investigation uncovered his multiple names, including Bijoy Das and Mohammad Iliyas. “He was using Vijay Das as his current name. He came to Mumbai 5-6 months ago. He stayed in Mumbai for a few days and then in the vicinity of Mumbai. The accused used to work in a housekeeping agency,” Dixit Gedam informed media.

Mohammad worked as a bar called ‘Bliss Bar & Bistro’ in the Hiranandani area of Waghbil, Thane. He was employed as a housekeeping staff through a third-party vendor. He worked there from September 2024 to December 15, 2024, and introduced himself as Bijoy Das.

Gedam further shared details about the case and said, He entered the house with the intention of robbery. He will be produced in the court and custody will be demanded. Further investigation will take place later… We doubt he is of Bangladeshi origin…,” Dixit Gedam said, and went on, “There is primary evidence to anticipate that the accused is a Bangladeshi. He does not have valid Indian documents. There are some seizures that indicate that he is a Bangladeshi national…”
