Actress-singer Saba Azad has strongly criticized those who assumed she wouldn’t continue working after entering a relationship with Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan. In a series of Instagram stories, Saba revealed losing several voice-over offers because people wrongly believed she no longer required them due to her association with a “successful partner” like Hrithik.
Saba shared photos of herself behind the microphone for the first time in two years and explained the reason for the voice artist’s involuntary sabbatical. She has also shared several popular commercials for which she has lent his voice. She wrote: “I never told anyone I quit, I never said I was indifferent, I never changed my meeting fee, nothing changed my bottom line, so what changed?”
She continued, “I was completely clueless until a month ago when I met a director I used to work with regularly during a trip back to Bombay. I couldn’t help myself and directly asked him, ‘Hey man, I’m curious, why don’t you guys call me for VOs anymore? What happened?’ His response left me completely baffled. He said, ‘Oh, we just thought you wouldn’t want to do voice-overs anymore… given.’ You can imagine what was implied.”

Saba Azad didn’t mince words when he wrote, “I have to say this person is amazing, one of the best leaders in the business, super progressive and cool and just the way I like tops. This is the last thing that I waited for. he said he didn’t think I would do a job like VO considering where you live ie who I’m dating.”
Criticizing people’s regressive mindset, she said: “Are we still living in the dark ages where we assume that a woman who is in a relationship with a successful partner no longer has to put food on the table?” Or do I pay her rent and bills? or take pride in your work and take care of yourself and your family??? What archaic assumption to make??”
She continued: “So I lost an entire career that I loved and valued because people thought I didn’t need to work anymore??? This is unfortunately a one-dimensional patriarchal and regressive mentality.”
