Rumy Jaffery’s father Kausar Siddiqui wins Sahitya Akademi Award 2021

New Delhi: The Sahitya Akademi Award 2021 was bestowed to well-known author Kausar Siddiqui, the father of writer-director Rumy Jaffery. He received the honour on July 30 in Calcutta. His book, Chirag Phoolon Ke, was recognised with the prize.

Siddiqui primarily writes in Urdu. After leaving his management position in 1992, he began writing. He has so far released 30 novels. He is proficient in the Rubai stream of Urdu poetry. Siddiqui has supervised the Ph.D. work of two students. He has been honoured with US Urdu Academy Awards. His poems are taught in CBSE and Maharashtra school textbooks.

Siddiqui had earlier told the media that he received information about the award via telephone. “We are getting a number of phone calls from relatives and friends. The date of felicitation is not fixed yet,” Siddiqui had said.

Earlier, on December 13, the Delhi government’s Directorate of Education (DoE) had issued a circular directing all government, government-aided, and recognised private schools under DOE, NDMC, MCD, and Delhi Cantonment Board to conduct classes in a hybrid mode for students up to Class IX and XI.
