Looking at the phenomenal response to their concert in Ahmedabad, the music band Coldplay added another show in the city, scheduled for January 26th at Narendra Modi Stadium. When tickets went live today (November 16) at around 1 pm, people attempted to book them using multiple devices, but to no avail. Once again, the show sold out within minutes, leaving fans disappointed.
However, what was even more disappointing for fans was seeing the same tickets being resold on third-party platforms like Viagogo just 20 minutes later. Although the website’s tagline reads “Tickets on sale available,” the prices listed were 100 times the original cost. Seats in the center zone cost Rs 82,000, whereas seats on the sides of the stage were priced as high as Rs 34,000.
But if you think this is steep, consider the tickets for January 25. Coldplay’s performance in Ahmedabad on Day 1 would cost you as much as Rs 2 lakh if tickets are purchased through resellers. Even the cheapest option costs Rs 11.5k, which is 10 times more than the original cost.
Fans React!
To say that fans were upset would be an understatement. As soon as the official ticket booking platform Book My Show announced that both tickets for both Coldplay concerts have been sold out, netizens thronged the comment section to slam the platform for poorly managed system.
One person wrote, ” Showing sold out after selecting seats, and then exited the queue because time ran out, wow, what a system”. Another person shared his experience of waiting in long queues for both the concerts and still not getting successful. He wrote, “Thanks @bookmyshow & @Bookmyshow_live
for ruining yet again in the waiting q ! You dont even have proper process to follow ! When the people were in queue for the 1st show you asked them to join another queue instead of adding them bydefault in queue for 2nd show!”
People also pointed out the third-party fraud and wrote, “IT’s OFFICIAL … both Coldplay shows are now available on random third party websites! 🤡🤡🤡”, “Bull shit response. All fraud not that I am a fan of
