Reports suggest that Robert Pattinson may be joining the Dune cast for its third and final part. Director Denis Villeneuve has made it clear that he is preparing to conclude the series. With returning stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Florence Pugh the production is scheduled to begin this summer. The movie is based on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune: Messiah.
As per the reports he could play the villain, a shape-shifting character named Scytale who tries to take down Paul Atreides which will be played by Timothée Chalamet.
After Dune: Part 2’s huge success which earned over $1.2 billion and bagged 8 Oscars, the studio confirmed they’re moving forward with the third film.
While speaking to Vanity Fair, director Denis clarified that the Dune franchise won’t go ahead after the threequel. He said, “It’s important that people understand that for me, it was really a diptych. It was really a pair of movies that will be the adaptation of the first book. That’s done and that’s finished. If I do a third one, which is in the writing process, it’s not like a trilogy. It’s strange to say that, but if I go back there, it’s to do something that feels different and has its own identity.”
Meanwhile, Robert is currently working on The Odyssey with Christopher Nolan and has wrapped up a few other films, including The Drama with Zendaya and Die, My Love opposite Jennifer Lawrence.
