Ridhi Dogra Shuts Down Disappointment Rumours Over Abir Gulaal Delay: ‘I Stand With My Country’

Actress Ridhi Dogra expressed support for the postponement of her film "Abir Gulaal" starring Fawad Khan following the Pahalgam attack.

Abir Gulaal, the much anticipated film starring Fawad khan, has hit an unexpected pause following the recent Pahalgam attack. In an conversation with Hesha Chimah, Abir Gulaal’s co-star Ridhi Dogra broke her silence on the film’s postponed release.

When asked whether she was disappointed by the delay, Ridhi responded, “No, it’s something beyond us. I stand with my country. That’s foremost.” When asked if she could share a moment of excitement from the film, Dogra remained tight lipped and said “No, I can’t. Everything is in different stages… I would love to, but I can’t.”

Ridhi Dogra earlier faced backlash online for working with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. It started after she expressed anger over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam where many accused her of being “double-faced,” questioning the sincerity of her condemnation of the attack while working with a Pakistani artist.

The movie was supposed to mark Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s comeback in Bollywood but it facing intense scrutiny. The film which was originally scheduled for release on May 9, will not be allowed to release in India. Film Federations in India openly opposed the release of the film and have also warned the makers of taking action against them. Government then further also banned the Instagram accounts of prominent Pakistani figures who enjoyed massive popularity across the border making their accounts inaccessible to Indian users, including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Atif Aslam, Fawad Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and cricketer Babar Azam.

Abir Gulal is directed by Aarti S. Bagdi and produced by Vivek Agrawal and also stars Vaani Kapoor and Ridhi Dogra. It was scheduled for release on 9 May 2025 but was later postponed following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack where the tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified.
