Renowned fashion designer Giorgio Armani passed away on Thursday at the age of 91. The news of his demise was confirmed by the fashion house. He was one of the biggest names in fashion and revolutionised the industry with his contribution. He was also known for pioneering red-carpet fashion and worked with several popular celebrities.
He founded his company, Armani, in 1975 with men’s wear and produced a women’s line later in the same year. In 1979, Giorgio Armani began producing for the United States and became successful. After establishing a prominent men’s and women’s line, he started creating other products, including swimwear, accessories, perfume and many more. Next year, he ventured into the film industry by getting involved in the costume-making of the film ‘American Gigolo’. He also made costumes for the hit 1987 film ‘The Untouchables’.
By 2009, Armani had 60 Giorgio Armani boutiques, 11 Collezioni, 122 Emporio Armani, 94 A/X Armani Exchange, 1 Giorgio Armani Accessori, and 13 Armani Junior stores spread over 37 countries.
