Gaurav Gera once played Chutki’s role

While talking to AajTak, Gaurav revealed that he’s been reading the comments and has been deeply moved by the outpouring of love. He said, “I’ve read the comments online. I’ve been so happy to read them that some of them brought tears to my eyes. This is a wonderful moment, and I’ve been waiting for this for a long time (sic).”

He further stated that he feels very happy and fortunate to have been allowed to be a part of this film. Gaurav said, “After playing a variety of characters, including Chutki, I was waiting for an opportunity where I could showcase my diverse acting skills. Sometimes actors get typecast, and audiences don’t understand what they’re truly capable of. Dhurandhar is a film that gave me that opportunity and showcased a side of me that people had never seen before.”

Gaurav’s transformation after Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin

Gaurav Gera, who rose to fame with Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, reacted to his completely transformed look in Dhurandhar. He said, “Absolutely, my character looked much older than I actually am. In fact, people can’t even guess my real age. The film team also cut my hair shorter than usual. I kept a white beard, which is actually white, because of all the years of makeup. But yes, people finally saw my true form.”

Gaurav Gera reveals how he learned local Pakistani dialogues

Gaurav Gera explained how the Pakistani local dialogue and accent were so well-suited: “I previously played a character that required me to speak in a Multani accent. I was able to do that because I have roots in Multan. So, capturing the way a Lyari man speaks wasn’t difficult. Aditya gave me complete freedom. He recreated an entire Lyari-like location in Thailand. A market that he transformed into an entire town, with such detail.”

While Gaurav also appeared in action sequences for some parts, his role in most scenes was simply to assist Ranveer’s character. Recalling the harrowing bridge scene after 26/11, he said, “This bridge scene was shot in the freezing cold in Amritsar. I was wearing a half-sleeved sweater. We were all shivering, but we completed the scene in one day.”

Gaurav Gera’s collaboration with Ranveer Singh

Gaurav said that both of them played detectives in the film, so they rarely interacted on set, acting mostly with their faces and eyes. He added that Ranveer remained in character even behind the camera. They always had an eye-to-eye connection.

The film continues to earn big, and now fans are eagerly waiting for Dhurandhar 2, which is coming on March 19, 2026.
