New Delhi: At an award ceremony, legendary actress Rekha dedicated her Dadaseheb Phalke award to Gangubai Kathiawadi actress Alia Bhatt. Alia was even dubbed a “future legend” by the veteran actress. Alia’s reaction, on the other hand, stole the show.
In a television channel promo, Rekha and Alia can be seen wearing sarees and sharing the stagr. As Rekha accepted the coveted award, she was seen lavishing praise on Alia. The veteran actress gave her award to Alia, describing her as a future legend. She said, “I dedicate my award today to the future legends of our country and she is the beginning of that.”

Listening to this, Alia became overwhelmed and let out a ‘turrrrrrrr’ while pretending to collapse on stage in disbelief.
While accepting the trophy from Rekha, Alia embraced her and bowed before her with her hands clasped in a namaste. Alia dressed for the occasion in a white saree with a matching embroidered top, just like her well-known character Gangubai. Rekha was dressed in a white and golden silk saree and accessorised with gold.
Not only Alia but also her actor husband Ranbir Kapoor took home the Best Actor prize that day for his work in the 2022 movie Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. The movie was Ranbir and Alia’s debut collaboration, and it was the highest-grossing Hindi movie of the previous year. He wasn’t in Bombay when Alia accepted the prize on his behalf. He was promoting his Holi-released movie Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar at the time. Its domestic box office just exceeded 100 crore.
