Filmmaker Anurag Basu’s upcoming romantic film, initially titled Aashiqui 3 and starring Kartik Aaryan, has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The project recently found itself at the centre of controversy after rumours surfaced about Triptii Dimri’s sudden exit from the film.
Triptii’s Exit Sparks Speculation
Reports suggested that Triptii Dimri was dropped because her ‘image’ no longer suited the role, following a string of bold performances in recent films. The film’s title has also reportedly undergone a change, and it is no longer being called Aashiqui 3.
Anurag Basu Breaks Silence
Addressing the speculation for the first time in an interview with HT City, Anurag Basu clarified the situation. He revealed, “I don’t know what the film is called right now, but the shoot starts this month. We have not finalised the female lead yet; it will be announced in a week.”
Shutting down rumours that Triptii’s screen image played a role in her exit, Anurag stated, “Image was not the reason. I am the last person to judge an actor based on their past roles. Aashiqui was not even the story anymore. I don’t know where these rumours came from.”

The Real Reason Revealed
Anurag confirmed that scheduling conflicts were the actual reason behind Triptii’s departure. He explained, “The most important factor is dates. Triptii is currently shooting for a film with Vishal Bhardwaj, while my film goes on floors this month as well. She is still my best friend, and I truly admire her as an actress. You should ask her too what happened.”
