Documentary On Ratan Tata’s Life
In the year 2020, Disney+Hotstar released a documentary series featuring the biggest tycoons of the 21st century. The documentary features Tata as well and offers insights into his journey of becoming one of the biggest industrialists despite the uncountable struggles and obstacles. It serves as a lesson for those trying to make big in the world of business. Directed by Sharon Pinto and Shruti Takulia, the documentary is available to watch in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and English. It’s written by Raja Sen with inputs from Ross Huguet.
Simi Garewal’s Relationship With Ratan Tata
Ratan Tata once dated the talk show host Simi Garewal and the two were reportedly very close to getting married. It was during the 1970s when their shared interests brought them closer. Though no one ever officially confirmed it, Simi once talked about cherishing a bond with the legend. “Ratan and I go back a long way. He’s perfection, he’s got a sense of humour, is modest and the perfect gentleman. Money was never his driving force. He’s not as relaxed in India as he is abroad,” she had shared.
After Ratan Tata passed away, Simi took to her social media to mourn the loss. She tweeted, “They say you have gone .. It’s too hard to bear your loss..too hard.. Farewell my friend..#RatanTata”
A Biopic On Ratan Tata?
After his demise, an old post from 2022 surfaced on social media, which stated that a biopic in being made on the industrialist. The reports claimed that Soorari Pottru fame Sudha Kongra will don the director’s hat for the project, which will feature Akshay Kumar. Later, names such as Abhishek Bachchan and R Madhavan also circulated as potential cast for the film. However, Sudha later cleared the air and shared that the film is not being made as the moment.
“I’m a huge admirer of Mr. Ratan Tata. However, I have no intention of making his biopic at this moment. But thank you all for your interest in my next film! Soon!” wrote Sudha on X.
Ratan Tata Turned Producer For A Film
While his first love was business, Ratan had a brief brush with film production in 2004. The business tycoon produced Vikram Bhatt directorial Aetbaar, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham and Bipasha Basu. The movie was a psychological thriller inspired by Hollywood hit film Fear, which was released in 1996. Made on a budget of 9 crore, Aetbaar failed miserably at the box office and hardly minted 7.96 crores. The film’s failure led to Ratan Tata never returning as a producer. Though he maintained cordial relationship with who’s who of the film industry, he stayed away from getting involved professionally.

After his demise, Ratan Tata’s family released a statement to confirm the news and share grief. The statement read: “We his brothers, sisters, and family take solace and comfort in the outpouring of love and respect from all who admired him. While he is no longer with us in person, his legacy of humility, generosity and purpose will continue to inspire future generations. It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation.”
