Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar fails to cross Rs 900 crore mark, Avatar: Fire and Ash beats Dhurandhar, earns Rs…

Dhurandhar races toward the Rs 600 crore mark in India while Avatar: Fire and Ash struggles domestically but dominates the global box office.

There are many films currently running in theatres, but all eyes are on only two. One is Dhurandhar and the other is Avatar: Fire and Ash. While one film is being showered with blessings from Goddess Lakshmi, the other is relying largely on retail collections in India. The Ranveer Singh starrer is racing ahead at the box office like a bullet train and is on the verge of crossing Rs 600 crore in just 19 days. In contrast, James Cameron’s film, despite releasing in six languages, is still far from the Rs 100 crore club in India even after five days. Here’s a look at how both films performed on Tuesday, December 23.

Dhurandhar Sees an Uptick After Monday Drop

Aditya Dhar’s second directorial venture, Dhurandhar, witnessed a sharp 57.14 percent drop in earnings on Monday, collecting Rs 16.5 crore. However, the film showed improvement on Tuesday. Despite its strong performance, it is yet to cross the Rs 900 crore mark worldwide. Avatar 3 also recorded an increase in collections on Tuesday. Both films benefited from discounted ticket prices at theatres and BOGO (buy one, get one free) offers across several platforms.

Dhurandhar Box Office Collection Day 19

According to Sacnilk, Ranveer Singh’s film gained momentum on its 19th day, earning Rs 17.25 crore at the domestic box office. Such numbers are not unusual for weekends. Earlier this year, Chhava earned Rs 5.4 crore on its 19th day, while Kantara Chapter 1 collected Rs 11.65 crore. Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal managed only Rs 5.5 crore on Day 19.

Clearly, Dhurandhar remains on a strong run, with the Christmas weekend and New Year celebrations expected to further boost collections. The film’s total net collection in India after 19 days now stands at Rs 589.50 crore. The record for the highest domestic collection in 2025 is currently held by Kantara Chapter 1, which earned Rs 622.44 crore across five languages.

Dhurandhar Worldwide Collection Day 19

Dhurandhar is now just short of the Rs 900 crore milestone in worldwide collections. In 19 days, the film has grossed Rs 897.50 crore globally. Of this, Rs 707.50 crore has come from India, while overseas markets have contributed Rs 190 crore.

The film has already overtaken Kantara Chapter 1 to become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 worldwide. The next major target is entry into the Rs 1,000 crore club.

Avatar Box Office Collection Day 5 (India)

On the other hand, James Cameron’s Avatar 3 has completed five days at the Indian box office and is still yet to enter the Rs 100 crore club. The film earned Rs 9 crore on its fourth day, Monday, and followed it up with Rs 9.30 crore on Tuesday.

The English version contributed Rs 4 crore, the Hindi dubbed version Rs 3.25 crore, Telugu Rs 0.75 crore, Tamil Rs 1.25 crore, Kannada Rs 0.04 crore, and Malayalam Rs 0.01 crore. The film’s total net collection in India after five days stands at Rs 85.50 crore.

Avatar Dominates Worldwide Box Office

While Avatar 3 is far behind Dhurandhar in India and unable to compete with it domestically, it continues to dominate the global box office. By Day 5, the film’s worldwide gross has reached approximately Rs 3,800 crore.

With this, it has already surpassed its reported budget of around Rs 3,600 crore. In comparison, Dhurandhar is nowhere close to Avatar 3 in terms of global earnings. With the Christmas and New Year holidays approaching, Avatar Fire and Ash is expected to see a further surge. The film could potentially cross Rs 5,000 crore worldwide by December 31.
