Amid this success, he has now got involved in a controversy over his ‘offensive’ remarks at comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent. The backlash was caused due to Ranveer’s comment, which shocked everyone. He asked one person, “Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life. Or would you join in once and stop it forever?”
Along with Ranveer, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija and YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani were also the guests. According to ANI, a complaint has been filed on Monday against Ranveer, Apoorva and Samay and the organisers of India’s Got Latent. The complaint has been filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission for allegedly using abusive language on the show and strict action has been demanded against the accused in the letter.
After the backlash, the youtuber posted a video on X and shared his regret by saying, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform and obviously this is not how I wish to use it. I’m not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened.”
He added, “I’m just here for an apology. I personally had a lapse in judgment. It wasn’t cool on my part. The podcast is watched by people of all ages. Don’t want to be the kind of person that takes that responsibility lightly and family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect.”
Celebrities like B Praak also criticised Ranveer and cancelled his appearance on his podcast.
