Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi’s Ramayana To Release In Two Parts; Makers Reveal Release Date

Taking to X handle, film's producer Namit Malhotra shared a series on posts to give out details

Ramayana Release Date Announced: Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s magnum opus Ramayan has been one of the most discussed films of the years. Ever since it was announced, people have been waiting for more information on its status and release date. So here is the good news. As a Diwali gift to fans, makers have announced that the film based on one of the most popular epics, will be released in two parts. The first one will be released on Diwali 2026, whereas the second one will hit the theatres on Diwali 2027.

Taking to X handle, film’s producer Namit Malhotra shared a series on posts to give out details. “More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen. And today, I am thrilled to see it taking shape beautifully as our teams work tirelessly with only one purpose: to present the most authentic, sacred, and visually stunning adaptation of our history, our truth, and our culture – our “RAMAYANA”– for people across the world.”

“Join us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence… Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027 From our entire Ramayana Family,” he added alongside a poster of the film.

The film will be directed by Nitesh Tiwari, who has given films such as Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Chhichhore, Varun Dhawan’s Bawaal and the superhit film of Aamir Khan, Dangal.

About Ramayana

The film will feature Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Ram. Sai Pallavi will play Sita alongside the Rockstar actor. Yash has been signed for the character of the antagonist Raavan. Others in the cast include Indira Krishna as Kaushalya, Arun Govil as Raja Dashrat and Lara Dutta as Rani Kaykay.

Though the makers have not announced any names officially, the interviews given by several actors have confirmed their presence in the film. Yash, meanwhile, has confirmed that he is playing Ravan. In other pictures, Arun Govil and Lara Dutta could be seen dressed in regal outfits. They are reportedly playing the roles of of Raja Dashrat and Rani Kaykay.

Sharing about Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Ram, Indira Krishna had said in an interview, “Ab ke zamaane mein agar Lord Rama ka character kisine bahot sundarta ki tarah nibhaya hai toh wo hain Ranbir Kapoor (If an actor who has performed the role of Lord Rama beautifully in the current generation is Ranbir Kapoor). I can’t see another actor playing Ram other than Ranbir.”

Talking to Hollywood Reporter, Yash had expressed his excitement for the role and shared, “It’s a very fascinating character. I wouldn’t have done it for any other reason. In Ramayana, if you had asked me, ‘Would you play any other character?’ Probably not. For me, Ravan is the most exciting character to play as an actor so I really like the shades and the nuances of particular character. There’s vast scope to present it in a very different way. As an actor, I am very excited. Hopefully, it’s going to be a very unique approach to it.”
