Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor recently discussed his father Rishi Kapoor’s final days, revealing how their bond grew stronger towards the end. Despite years of separation, Ranbir and Rishi became more connected in his father’s last moments. Ranbir remembered being informed that Rishi might pass away soon, which triggered a panic attack while he was in the hospital. After a lengthy fight with cancer, Rishi Kapoor died in May 2020. In an interview with Nikhil Kamath, Ranbir looked back at his childhood and admitted that, although he loved his father, their relationship had been strained.

Ranbir mentioned that he stopped crying very quickly and didn’t cry even when his father passed away. When he was at the hospital, the doctor informed him that it was his father’s last night and that he would go soon. He recalled going into the room and experiencing a panic attack, not knowing how to express himself amidst the overwhelming situation. Instead of mourning his father’s departure, Ranbir said he came to understand the loss that had occurred.

He also shared an emotional moment when Rishi came to him and cried. Despite their strained relationship, Ranbir felt guilty for not bridging the gap. During Rishi’s treatment, they spent a year together in New York, where Rishi often spoke about it. Ranbir stayed there for 45 days, and one day, Rishi came to him and started crying. Ranbir found it strange and didn’t know whether to comfort him or hug him. He realized their distance and felt guilty for not having the courage to close that gap and show him love.

Ranbir explained that his upbringing influenced how he dealt with such situations. He felt that being told he was now a responsible person made those thoughts linger in his mind. With a mother, sister, wife, and daughter, and having lost his father, he questioned whether he could show weakness amidst all these responsibilities. He admitted that he didn’t fully understand this, but he chose not to show his weakness.

In contrast, his sister Riddhima noted that after losing Rajiv Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor within a year, the family, once fractured, has come together and started taking better care of each other.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
