‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama’ holds a special place in the hearts of several 90s and 2000s kids in India. It is one of the most iconic anime movies based on the Ramayana saga and is widely loved by audiences of different age groups. The movie will soon re-release in theatres in India owing to its massive fan following. But do you know, ‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama’ was released in several dubbed versions and became popular in the US as well? Many fans will be surprised to know that a Hollywood actor lent his voice to Lord Ram in the movie in the film’s US version.
Bryan Cranston is best known worldwide for playing the role of Walter White in the Netflix series ‘Breaking Bad’ and the show is immensely popular in India as well. The Emmy-winning actor was the voice of Lord Ram in the US version of the film and it was titled ‘The Prince of Light: The Legend of Ramayana’. The movie was reportedly edited to make it easier for the Western audience to watch.
It was qualified to be nominated in the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature category but did not make the cut. The voice cast of the US version also includes Edie Mirman, Tom Wyner, Richard Cansino, Michael Sorich, Mike Reynolds, Tony Pope, Mari Devon, Simon Prescott, Barbara Goodson, Kirk Thornton, Steve Bulen and Eddie Frierson.
‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama’ will re-release in theatres on October 18 and will be distributed by Geek Pictures India, AA Films and Excel Entertainment.
Arjun Aggarwal, co-founder of Geek Pictures India, in an official statement, explained how the movie stands the test of time after many years. He said, “The Ramayana in anime is a groundbreaking testament to the strength of Indo-Japan collaborations. This fresh, dynamic portrayal of the timeless legend of Ram will undoubtedly strike a chord with audiences across all regions and age groups, bringing this epic to life in a way that’s never been seen before.”
The movie will release in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu.
