New Delhi: Ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala left the world on August 14 due to heart and kidney ailments. The “Big Bull” has left behind a fortune worth over $5 billion.
Interestingly, Jhunjhunwala was not only an investor but an Indian film producer as well. He produced the 2012 release English Vinglish featuring late actress Sridevi. His co-producers on the project were Sunil Lulla, R Balki, and RK Damani.
He also produced two more films namely, 2015 release Shamitabh featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush and Kareena-Arjun Kapoor starrer Ki & Ka.
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was also among the founders of the entertainment company Hungama Digital Media.
Not only sports stars and business leaders, Jhunjhunwala’s death was mourned by the political leaders including our Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As a remembrance, PM Modi tweeted, “Witty and insightful, he leaves behind an indelible contribution to the financial world.”
Ratan Tata said Jhunjhunwala will be remembered for his foresightedness, understanding of markets.
Smriti shared a picture with her ‘brother’ Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and penned an emotional note on him. She tweeted, “I lost my brother today .. A relationship not known to many. They call him a billionaire investor, the badshah of BSE .. But what he really was .. Is and always will be .. Is a dreamer (sic)”
She also added, “He was tenacious, he was tender, he was graceful, he was as my gentle giant . Bhaiyya always told me ‘ apan apne dam par jeyenge ‘ .. and he lived on his own terms.”
The 62-year-old business magnate is survived by his wife Rekha Jhunjhunwala, two sons, and a daughter. He will be cremated today evening.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala were taken to the Banganga crematorium in Mumbai.
