Raj Kundra has issued the first statement after the reports of ED raids at his house surfaced on the internet. The businessman also expressed his anger towards media for dragging his wife Shilpa Shetty’s name into this issue. Earlier, Shetty’s lawyer also shared that the actress has nothing to do with the case and Raj Kundra is cooperating with the investigation.
He wrote on Instagram, “To whom it may concern, While the media seems to have a flair for drama, let’s set the record straight: I’m fully complying with the ongoing investigation that has been unfolding for the last four years. As for the claims of ‘associates’, ‘pornography’ and ‘money laundering’, let’s just say that no amount of sensationalism will cloud the truth, in the end, justice will prevail!”
Further calling out people for dragging Shilpa Shetty’s name, he added, “A note to the media: It’s unacceptable to repeatedly drag my wife’s name into unrelated matters. Please respect the boundaries.!!! #ED.”
According to a report by PTI, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided his house in connection to a money-laundering case about the allegations surrounding the production and distribution of pornographic content through mobile applications. Approximately 15 locations in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh have been searched.
In an earlier interview, he talked about his time in jail and shared how it was for him. He said, as quoted by The Indian Express, “It’s humiliating because they strip you down completely in front of everyone. They check your bum to see if you are carrying any narcotics. So, you feel like you have lost all your dignity. You feel like you have gone through so much and now here also they are stripping you down. Media was already doing that and now this also happened. I felt disheartened and hurt. You don’t get proper food or sleep, and people were talking lecherously about me and Shilpa.”
