When ‘Raat Akeli Hai’ streamed in 2020, it came out as one of Netflix India’s finest thrillers. Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Inspector Jatil Yadav, a rough cop with his own moral instincts, and Radhika Apte as the unusual bride Radha, the first part focused on the murder of a wealthy man on his wedding night. The makers have announced its sequel titled ‘Raat Akeli Hai: The Bhansal Murders’, where Jatil Yadav will solve a new case.
In this highly awaited sequel, Nawazuddin Siddiqui returns as the rough inspector Jatil Yadav. This time, he will handle a fresh and more complicated murder case that unfolds from the wealthy and politically powerful Bansal family. The sequel falls even deeper into the shadows of human greed and guilt, with Jatil facing not just the mystery but also the ghosts of his past.
On reprising his role in the sequel, Nawazuddin stated, “Jatil Yadav is a character which is very close to me, flawed and restless, yet relentless in the persuit of justice.” After this, he also added, “Coming back to play it feels like returning to close some unfinished business. I’m grateful RSVP, MacGuffin Pictures and Netflix for giving the opportunity to play the character again. I am excited for audiences to see more from the man behind the uniform”.
Director Honey Trehan has teamed up with writer Smita Singh, ensuring same tone and tension. The film also features a filled supporting cast including Chitrangada Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun, and Sanjay Kapoor, adding more and more shades.
Set to premiere soon on Netflix, the movie ‘Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders’ will showcase its world premiere at the 56th International Film Festival in Goa, this November.
