Pushpa 2 Controversy: Income Tax Department officials reached filmmaker Sukumar’s Hyderabad residence and office on January 22, launching a surprise raid that lasted several hours. According to reports by Sakshi Post, Sukumar was intercepted by IT officials at Hyderabad airport and escorted back to his home, where the search operation was carried out.
The exact reasons behind the raid remain unclear as neither the IT Department nor Sukumar’s representatives have issued an official statement regarding the raid yet.
Sukumar’s film Pushpa 2 has been embroiled in controversies ever since its release. During an event in Hyderabad, which was attended by its lead actor Allu Arjun, a stampede occurred, tragically resulting in the death of a woman and leaving his son seriously injured.
In a separate development, the Income Tax department conducted raids on producer Dil Raju’s properties on January 21. The investigation is reportedly focused on suspected tax evasion, with officials verifying financial documents and transactions.
As part of a broader probe into alleged financial irregularities and unaccounted income, IT officials are scrutinizing Dil Raju’s financial records. The producer, whose real name is Velamakucha Venkata Ramana Reddy, is primarily known for his work in Telugu cinema. He has financed several films in Tamil and Hindi through his production company, Sri Venkateswara Creations.
Dil Raju has received numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards and the Nagi Reddy – Chakrapani National Award in 2013. His latest production, the Ram Charan-starrer Game Changer, has been making waves in the film industry.
