‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, continues its record-breaking run at the box office. On its second day, the movie raked in Rs. 90.10 crore net in India, taking its total domestic earnings to Rs. 265 crores (net). Globally, the film has crossed the Rs. 400 crore gross mark, as per reports from Sacnilk.
Released across multiple languages, the pan-India blockbuster opened to Rs.174.9 crore in India on its first day. With such impressive numbers, industry experts predict the movie will surpass several records over the weekend.
Occupancy Rates Across Languages
On day 2, ‘Pushpa 2’ saw strong occupancy rates in theaters. Telugu led with 53% overall occupancy, followed by Hindi at 51.65%. Other regional languages also performed well, including Tamil (38.52%), Kannada (35.97%), and Malayalam (27.30%). The Hindi (ICE) format reported 49.50% occupancy, while 3D screenings witnessed a perfect 100% turnout.
Dominating Screens, Delaying Other Releases
The unprecedented success of Pushpa 2 has monopolized most theater screens, leaving little room for other films to perform. This dominance has reportedly impacted other major releases, including Moana 2, which is struggling to secure significant screen time. Additionally, the much-anticipated re-release of Interstellar has been postponed, citing limited availability of screens due to the overwhelming demand for Pushpa 2.

Directed by Sukumar, the film continues the story of Pushpa Raj, a red sandalwood smuggler who rises to power against all odds. Fahadh Faasil reprises his role as the antagonist SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, adding depth to the narrative, while Rashmika Mandanna returns as Srivalli. Jagapathi Babu’s addition further enhances the film’s intrigue.

Devi Sri Prasad (DSP), the film’s music composer, has received widespread acclaim for his background score. While netizens have mixed opinions about the storyline, the music has been unanimously praised as “mind-blowing.”
