New Delhi: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has given a big relief to the famous Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi in the pigeon pelting case. The High Court has stayed the two-year sentence awarded by the lower court. He was convicted by the trial court of Patiala on March 16, 2018 and then sentenced to two years imprisonment. Subsequently, the Additional Sessions Judge dismissed the appeal filed against Mehndi’s sentence. After which he had to go to jail.

Daler Mehndi was convicted by the court in 2018. A total of 31 cases were registered against him and his brother Shamsher in the case. The first case against Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi was registered in the US in 2003, because in this case most of the people were sent to America. Daler and Shamsher were accused of illegally sending people abroad. It was alleged that people used to take them abroad as part of the music team. Later they used to take a huge amount from people.
