Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann attended the last rites of popular Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda on Thursday, October 9, at his native village Pona near Jagraon. The CM paid his final respects and offered condolences to the family, expressing grief over the singer’s sudden death.
Following the visit, Bhagwant Mann took to X (formerly Twitter) to share pictures from the funeral and penned an emotional note in memory of the late artist.

“The proud artist of the Punjabi mother tongue, Rajvir Jawanda, passed away recently — an irreparable loss for both his family and the music world. Today, we attended Rajvir Jawanda’s last rites at his native village Pona (Jagraon) and shared our grief with his family. May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give the family strength to bear this loss,” he wrote in Punjabi, adding that Jawanda’s contribution to Punjab and Punjabiyat will always be remembered.

What Happened To Rajvir Jawanda?
On September 27, Rajvir got into a serious accident in the Baddi Area of Himachal Pradesh while he was travelling to Shimla in Solan district. He was immediately admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali and was on life support.
“Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda passed away at 10:55 AM on October 8, 2025, at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. He was admitted on September 27, 2025, in an extremely critical condition following a road accident that caused severe spinal injuries and brain damage,” Fortis Hospital said in a statement.
It added, “Despite extensive medical support and continuous monitoring by the Critical Care and Neurosurgery teams, he succumbed to multiple organ failure this morning.”
Earlier, doctors revealed that Jawanda’s condition was ‘extremely critical’ and there was minimal brain activity and no significant improvement.
Who is Rajvir Jawanda ?
Rajvir Jawanda started his music career in 2014 and became popular with his hit song “Kali Jawande Di.” Apart from singing, he also acted in movies like ‘Mindo Taseeldarni’ and ‘Subedar Joginder Singh’. Before joining the music industry, he worked in the Punjab Police.
