New Delhi: Today’s most recognised face is Priyanka Chopra Jonas. She is an author, a producer, and a businesswoman. The actress has a sizable fan base and is one of only four Indians to reach this year’s list of the BBC’s “100 Women.” The actress spoke candidly on a variety of topics, including pay inequality and body shaming, in the interview with the portal. She admitted that when she first entered Bollywood, her complexion led to body shaming.
Recalling what people used to call her during her struggling days, Priyanka said, “I was called a black cat, dusky. I mean, what does ‘dusky’ even mean in a country where we are literally all brown? I thought I was not pretty enough, I believed that I would have to work a lot harder, even though I thought I was probably a little bit more talented than my fellow actors who were lighter skinned.”
When asked about the pay gap, Priyanka Chopra responded that she wouldn’t even receive 10% of what her male co-stars received. She said, “I figured it was okay to wait for my male co-actor.”
The actress has been honoured with a national fashion award. She has also given outstanding performances in movies like Bajirao Mastani, Mary Kom, Barfi, and 7 Khoon Maaf, among others.
