Actress Priyanka Chopra’s former restaurant Sona in New York is closing its doors. The restaurant, known for its modern Indian cuisine, will serve its last brunch on June 30.

The news of the restaurant’s closure comes almost a year after Priyanka resigned and resigned from the company. The update was shared via an Instagram post.

On June 19, the restaurant released a statement announcing the end of its chapter.

It read: “After more than three remarkable years, Sona is closing. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has walked through our doors. It has been our greatest honor to serve you.”

It adds: “SONA’s final service. will be on Sunday, June 30”.

The restaurant opened three years ago at an Indian puja ceremony attended by Priyanka and her husband Nick Jonas. It has been visited by celebrities like Mindy Kaling, Anupam Kher, Vicky Kaushal, and Katrina Kaif.

The restaurant took guests on an Indian food trail with Kerala fried chicken, pumpkin kofta, and paneer lababdar among others. They also served eclectic cocktails.

Priyanka started a restaurant in New York with Maneesh Goyal. She often shared glimpses of the place on social media, from showing off the beautifully plated dishes to the various food options and vodka. The reason for its closure is not yet known.

Two years after its opening, Priyanka ended her relationship with SONA after reports suggested a rift with her business partner Maneesh.

The restaurant manager claimed that when Priyanka moved out of the establishment, her fingerprints were all over the SONA area. And she will remain in the SONA family, even if she is no longer a creative partner.

In 2023, a statement from Priyanka’s representatives read: “Bringing Sona to life is undeniably a proud and important moment in her career. Priyanka has always strived to showcase Indian culture through storytelling, be it a compelling film or TV show. Content or beautifully plated dishes that feature Indian haute cuisine.

At the time, Maneesh said that working with Priyanka “was a dream come true”.

“We appreciate her partnership and support. Although she is no longer involved as a creative partner, she remains part of the Sona family and we look forward to our new episodes,” he said in a statement to People.

On the work front, Priyanka is currently shooting for The Bluff and continues to share snippets of the series on social media.
