Today, Priya Kapur filed an application before the Delhi High Court that the direction of the court to disclose the assets of late Sunjay Kapur as on the date of death should be modified and that the information be directed to be kept in a sealed cover and that the children of Karishma Kapoor should be asked to give non-disclosure statement because it concerns confidential information.
Although the court has fixed the matter for hearing tomorrow, the court has prima facie opined that there is nothing confidential in such matters. Besides, any such direction is likely to prejudice the right of defence. The lawyer of Karishma Kapoor’s children, Saurav Agarwal pointed out that the attempt to keep everything confidential is to avoid enquiry to the assets. Bank accounts have already been wiped off. Besides probate matters are akin to proceedings in rem and public should be aware of assets so as to not deal with assets.
“Tomorrow the Court is going to decide an important aspect of such information is to be kept confidential in a partition matters”.
Priya Sachdev’s plea for confidentiality
Priya Sachdev Kapur, widow of the late businessman Sunjay Kapur had filed an application seeking details of his personal assets to be disclosed only under strict confidentiality. In her plea, she has requested permission to submit a list of Kapur’s movable and immovable assets in a sealed envelope, citing cybersecurity risks and the potential misuse of sensitive financial information. Sachdev has further sought that all parties, including Kapur’s children from his first marriage with actor Karisma Kapoor and his mother, Rani Kapur be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before accessing the documents.
She has also suggested creating a Confidentiality Club to limit access to select advocates and representatives. This application follows the court’s order dated September 10, which directed Priya to submit a detailed statement of Kapur’s assets and liabilities as of June 12.
