Bollywood actor Prateik, who was lately in headline after dropping his surname, made his acting debut with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na in year, 2008. Now, the actor who took up her mother’s name as his surname has recently opened up about his troubled past and his struggles while being in this industry.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Prateik recalled how his habit of substance abuse not only affected his personal life but also his career. During the conversation, he confessed that he was thrown out of the Subhash Ghai’s institution after getting involved with drugs.
Recalling the incident, he said, “I was studying a little bit here and there. There was a kind of slump as I didn’t know what I was doing. I was there for about two years and then I was thrown out of Whistling Woods for doing drugs. Now that I think about it, it is funny. I got thrown out of every school and college I went into. I was a menace.”
A Dark Period In Prateik’s Life
Prateik further spoke candidly about the dark phase of his life when he became a ‘raging addict’ and that not only impacted him but also had a very bad affect on his family as well. He shared that his grandmother also passed away the same time when he was battling with addiction.
Expressing his grief, he said, “The grandparents saw the worst of me in those last few years. I was a raging addict. My grandmother died seeing me an addict. That’s something I regret. I wish she could see the man I have become today.”
Prateik On Work Front
Although after having a troubled past, Prateik managed to make his name in the industry. He was last seen in the recently released movie HIT: The Third Case. The film was directed by Sailesh Kolanu and feautures Nani and Srinidhi Shetty as well.
HIT has garnered significant box office success, grossing Rs. 92.5 crore worldwide till date.
