Advertising legend Piyush Pandey, the mind behind some iconic advertisements of Fevicol and Cadbury, passed away at the age of 70. He was also the one behind the iconic 2014 election slogan “Ab Ki Baar, Modi Sarkar,” which played a pivotal role during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election campaign.
PM Modi expressed his grief upon hearing about the demise of Piyush Pandey and paid tribute to him. He wrote on X, “Shri Piyush Pandey Ji was admired for his creativity. He made a monumental contribution to the world of advertising and communications. I will fondly cherish our interactions over the years. Saddened by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

According to News18, Pandey created the mini clips along with filmmaker Shoojir Sircar and animation expert Manish Sherawat. While speaking to author NP Ullekh, he shared how he created this ad and said, “The audience was very different – young, energetic, and glued to cricket when these ads were to air. I told the BJP guys I wanted to make an animation film. We would use satire; we would be inspired by cartoonists of the world.”
Meanwhile, several celebrities and political leaders paid heartfelt tributes and remembered his contribution to the advertising agency.
Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman wrote on X, “Saddened to hear of the passing of Shri Piyush Pandey. A titan and legend of Indian advertising, he transformed communication by bringing everyday idioms, earthy humor, and genuine warmth into it. Have had opportunities to interact with him on various occasions. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire creative fraternity. His legacy will continue to inspire generations.”

Piyush Pandey worked in the advertising industry for around four decades and the Chief Creative Officer Worldwide and Executive Chairman India of Ogilvy.
