New Delhi: Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha has been courting controversy ever since it was announced. An official remake of Hollywood classic Forrest Gump, the film released in theatres on August 11. Deemed as a ‘labour of love’ by Aamir Khan, the film tanked at box office. The film fell prey to the boycott culture on social media and was cancelled over Aamir Khan’s old comment.

Now, after two week of film’s release, a PIL has been filed against in the Kolkata High Court. On August 23, the case will be heard in the court of Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava. The PIL demands that the film be completely banned in Bengal. At the same time, there has been a demand that, even if the ban is not implemented, a police officer be stationed outside each theatre because what is shown in LSC has the potential to disrupt Bengal’s peace and order. The PIL was filed by advocate Nazia Elahi Khan. According to her, the Army is not properly represented in the film.

Previously, some members of the Hindu outfit Sanatan Rakshak Sena protested in Uttar Pradesh, stating that they were adamant about calling for an outright ban on Laal Singh Chaddha. The members of the protest accused Aamir Khan of mocking and making fun of Hindu deities. Members of the group chanted anti-Advait Chandan slogans and accused the actor of hurting their religious feelings. The protest was held outside the IP Vijaya mall in Bhelupur, Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, there have also been rumours that the distributors of Laal Singh Chaddha have suffered from major losses courtesy the underperformance of the film. The producers and distributors of the movie gave clarification on the same where they rubbished reports about some distributors demanding compensation for the dismal performance of the film.

Aside from Aamir Khan, Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh in pivotal roles.
