BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty, on Tuesday, became target of pickpockets during a campaign rally in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Star campaigner for the BJP, Mithun went to the Nirsa Assembly area to offer support to BJP candidate Aparna Sen Gupta. While he was busy addressing a large gathering in Kaliya Sol, organised by the BJP, pickpockets struck amidst the crowd.
Over a thousand people had gathered to catch a glimpse of Mithun, leading to overcrowding and a lack of security arrangements. As people rushed forward to take photos with their mobile cameras, some even pushing and shoving, the pickpockets took advantage of the chaos and stole Mithun Chakraborty’s wallet.
Once Mithun noticed his wallet was missing, he informed other BJP leaders on stage. They made a public appeal for the wallet to be returned, but unfortunately, it wasn’t recovered. Mithun, disappointed by the incident, ended the event sooner than planned and left the venue.
Meanwhile, Mithun has been at the center of controversy for his provocative remarks against Muslims, which drew criticism from all around. Things took a darker turn when Shahzad Bhatti, a Pakistani gangster based in Dubai, issued open threats against Chakraborty on social media.
In the video, Shahzaad asked Mithun to apologise for his remarks within 10-15 days. He said, “Mithun saab, mera aapko ek mashfara hai. Aap 10-15 din me koi video apni jaari karo aur maafi maang lo. yahi behtar hai ki aap maang lo maafi. Aur aapka maafi maangna banta bhi hai. Aapne dil dukhaaya hai. Jitna aapko doosre mazhabo ke logo ne pyaar kara hai, utna hi musalmaano ne bhi izzat di hai. ((Mithun sir, I have a suggestion for you. Issue a video within 10-15 days and apologise for your remarks. It’s better for you to apologise. You owe an apology as you have hurt people’s feelings. While people of various faiths have shown affection, Muslims have also extended their love and respect to you equally.)
