Pakistani singer Shae Gill, who rose to fame in India with the coke studio hit Pasoori, has been facing backlash from Indian netizens after posting a series of Instagram stories perceived as anti-India.
Amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, Gill shared a message on her Instagram stories that read, “God bless our armed forces Pakistan Zindabad.” She followed it with another post praising Pakistan’s media coverage and condemning India.

One user wrote, “I’ve chosen to unfollow/unsubscribe from the following Pakistani artists and platforms” and posted a list of Pakistani artists including Shae, he further wrote “I used to admire and enjoy their work, and I still respect their talent. But for me, the nation comes first. Our Army comes first. At a time when our soldiers are protecting our borders, I find it difficult to support voices that openly praise Pakistan on social media. I’ve noticed that many fellow Indians still follow them, even after requests from our government to disengage. I urge you to reflect: Nation First. Always.”

India first banned Fawad Khan’s upcoming film ‘Abir Gulaal’, then restricted Pakistani YouTube content and television dramas. Film Federations in India openly opposed the release of the film and have also warned the makers of taking action against them. Government then further also banned the Instagram accounts of prominent Pakistani figures who enjoyed massive popularity across the border making their accounts inaccessible to Indian users, including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Atif Aslam, Fawad Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and cricketer Babar Azam.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed all OTT platforms and digital streaming services operating in India to immediately halt the distribution of Pakistani content.
