Salman Khan and Govinda won hearts with their chemistry in the 2007 comedy Partner, directed by David Dhawan. The film has since achieved cult status, and fans have often speculated about a sequel. However, Partner 2 remains unmade. Addressing the long-standing curiosity, Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, recently shared her thoughts during a chat with Pinkvilla Hindi Rush.
uWhen asked about the sequel, Sunita said, “Partner 2 ka bohot maine bhi suna hi tha, par mujhe bhi nahi pata kya hua. Karenge toh acha hi hai, public ne pasand toh kiya hi tha dono ko (I had heard lots about Partner 2 but don’t know what happened about the project. It would be great if they did it. The audience liked them together).” Her remarks hinted at the public demand for Salman and Govinda to reunite on screen, though no concrete plans for the sequel have been announced.
Govinda’s Influence On Varun Dhawan
Sunita also spoke about the comparisons often drawn between Govinda and Varun Dhawan, David Dhawan’s son. Highlighting the connection, she said, “Govinda has done 17-18 films with David Dhawan. Naturally, Varun, who grew up watching these performances, might show some resemblance. He was a mischievous child back then too.”
Despite acknowledging the similarities, Sunita questioned the constant comparisons. “People compare, but I don’t understand why. It must be uncomfortable for him too, being compared to Salman or Chi-Chi bhaiya (Govinda).” She emphasized that such parallels might be challenging for Varun as he carves his own identity in the industry.
What’s Next For Salman And Govinda?
On the work front, Salman Khan is gearing up for his upcoming film Sikandar and recently made a cameo in Varun Dhawan’s Baby John. Govinda, however, has been away from films for some time, leaving fans eager for his return.
