Maddock Films who have had a dream run at the box office during the last couple of years, are all set to release their new project, a inter-cultural Punjabi-Malayali love story. Trade Guru Taran Adarsh is gung-ho about it.
“Param Sundari carries strong box office potential. The fresh pairing of Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor adds novelty, while the soundtrack – especially Pardesiya – is already trending and connecting strongly with the youth. In the midst of franchise-driven films, a standalone love story arriving in theatres feels refreshing – a definite plus. Most importantly, with a vacuum at the box office post War 2 and Coolie, audiences are eagerly waiting for a well-made entertainer. Hopefully, Param Sundari will strike the right chord with moviegoers.”
Adds producer, trade analyst Girish Johar, “Param Sundari is looking very fresh and vibrant. The core theme is not new. But I am confident that the makers have new plot twists in their storytelling to pleasantly surprise the audience. One song has tracked quite well, and even the promotions are good. Would be happy if the start is around ₹4-5crs or more on day 1. From there onwards, it’s WOM(word of mouth) and audiences’ feedback will take the film ahead.”
Says Bihar’s prominent film exhibitor Roshan Singh, “It’s been a while since Siddharth Malhotra or Janhvi Kapoor had a success. I feel producer Dinesh Vijan’s luck would rub off on them. Also, it’s proven that romance and not action, is the flavour of the year.”
