Heartfelt Posts Draw Fire

Taking to her Instagram stories, Zara Shahjahan wrote about the appearance of Shah Rukh and Diljit at the 2025 Met Gala.
She wrote, “Last night, two of our stars lit up the Met Gala. Shah Rukh – the dream we grew up with. Diljit – the beat we move to now… Our hands are tied by suspicion, our joy swallowed by our silence.”

In another post, she reflected, “It is a strange thing, to grow up loving someone who may never be allowed to love you back… and feel like strangers watching from across the wall.”

Fan Reactions

Her words quickly went viral with many Pakistani netizens slamming her for being ‘tone-deaf’ at a time of cross-border conflict. “Self-respect has left the chat,” one user said. “Our celebrities? I can’t digest this! SRK and Diljit? How are they ours?” another commented. “So shameless – kitna obsession hai Bollywood se?” read another cooment.

This backlash comes after, Operation Sindoor was reportedly carried out in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. India has also banned several Pakistani YouTube channels and social media accounts, further straining relations.

SRK and Diljit’s Global Moment

Shah Rukh Khan made history as the first Indian male actor to walk the Met Gala red carpet. Styled by Sabyasachi, he wore a sleek black outfit with gold chains, a brooch and a tiger-head cane that turned heads on the global stage.

  • Diljit Dosanjh was styled by Prabal Gurung as he embraced a regal Maharaja look featuring a dramatic cape embroidered with Punjabi script. His ensemble was a tribute to Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, included a bejewelled turban and sword.
