The decomposed body of Humaira Asghar, a rising actress, model, and artist, was discovered in her Defence Phase VI apartment in Karachi on Tuesday, July 8, during the execution of an eviction order over unpaid rent.
Now in a chilling twist to the mysterious death of Humaira, Sindh Police DIG South Asad Raza has revealed that her decomposed body may have been lying in her Karachi flat for nearly six months.
DIG Raza stated that expired food items from 2024, “The expiry date of food and drinks found in the flat is 2024. The last messages in the actor’s phone records are also from October 2024.”
The last message dated October 2024 on her phone suggest that she likely passed away late last year.The DIG’s comments are similar to what stylist Danish Maqsood said in an interview with Geo Digital. He shared that he had messaged Asghar on October 20, but she never read it. He also noticed that her WhatsApp “last seen” was on October 7.
Adding more details, DIG South said that the last message on the actor’s phone was from an online cab driver, and the electricity in her apartment had been cut off for a long time.
“The actress’s last contact with the owner of the flat was also in 2024,” Raza said.

According to police, the apartment was locked from the inside, “The apartment was locked from the inside, including the balcony door,” confirmed Raza in a statement to Pakistani news portal Images. Police said there were no immediate signs of foul play at the scene. Forensic teams were called in, and Humaira’s body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
A day earlier, police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed, confirmed that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition. She further stated that although a post mortem has been done, it’s too early to say what caused the death because the body was badly decomposed and couldn’t show any clear signs.
She also shared that DNA and chemical samples have been taken, and the actual details will come out after those tests are completed.
