When “Naatu Naatu” won the Golden Globe in the same category, it was hailed as the front-runner for the Oscars. It was the first Asian and Indian Telugu song to win the award thanks to the victory.
SS Rajamouli’s “RRR” was expected to be a serious candidate in the film and directing categories prior to the announcement of the Oscar nominations. Although there were many rumours that the movie would receive a nomination for Best Picture, it tragically only received a nomination for Best Song.
