Only Murders In The Building Season 5 Release Date:
‘Only Murders In The Building Season 5’ will release on JioHotstar on September 9.
The show revolves around three strangers who become friends because of their shared interest in true crime podcasts. Things take a turn when someone gets killed in their building. In season four, a beloved supporting character was seen dead, shocking our protagonists. The big cliffhanger has set the plot for the upcoming season as Charles, Oliver, and Mabel try to solve the murder mystery once again.
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, show’s casting director Tiffany Little Canfield revealed why she decided to cast Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez together. She revealed, “It was Steve and Marty when I was hired. Dan Fogelman — I worked with him on This Is Us at the time — reached out to me and said, “I’ve got a show about a true-crime podcast in New York City with Steve and Marty, do you want to look at it?” We started to talk about it: With their dynamic, what would be interesting? Because you want to have someone who comes from a really different world from [Martin and Short]. We came up with a list, and we did some auditions that went really well. Selena’s team reached out.”
She added, “I’ve pursued [Gomez] in the past, and it’s hard to get her because she’s such a multihyphenate. This one, I think, really intrigued her, because [her team] confirmed the meeting right away, which was not my previous experience. [Martin and Short] were going to meet her first, and then she was going to audition. The chemistry and the Zoom was so on fire from the first moments of the meeting, they knew this was a fit.”
The show is created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman. The fifth season stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez in the lead roles and they will reprise their characters. Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, Logan Lerman, Keegan-Michael Key, and Beanie Feldstein have joined the show as the new additions. Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis, Eugene Levy and Eva Longoria were seen in the guest roles in the previous season.
