Netflix Splits Donation Across Multiple Charities
Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos announced that the company’s $10 million contribution will be distributed among five organizations, including World Central Kitchen and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. These funds aim to provide immediate relief and essential resources to affected communities.
Comcast Focuses On Rebuilding Efforts
Comcast Corporation Chairman and CEO Brian L. Roberts revealed that $2.5 million of the company’s donation would be directed to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ ReBUILD LA initiative. The remaining funds will support other charities assisting wildfire victims.
Screen Actors Guild Commits To Member Support
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) pledged $1 million to assist its members impacted by the fires. SAG emphasized the need to support not only high-profile stars but also less-recognized industry workers who have suffered significant losses.
Broadway Community Joins the Effort
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS contributed $500,000 in emergency grants to provide meals, shelter, medical care, clothing, and financial aid to LA-area residents and first responders. “These wildfires have left deep scars but also inspired widespread support,” said Robert E. Wankel, Board of Trustees president.
Beyoncé Launches Relief Fund
Singer Beyoncé’s charitable foundation, BeyGOOD, has launched the LA Fire Relief Fund, contributing $2.5 million to assist displaced families and provide essential services.
The LA wildfires have claimed 24 lives, destroyed thousands of homes, and left many missing. Officials warn that the death toll is expected to rise as recovery efforts continue.
