National Film Awards: Kriti Sanon, Allu Arjun To Waheeda Rehman Felicitated By President Murmu

Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Allu Arjun, R Madhavan, Pankaj Tripathi among others conferred with National Film Award by President Draupadi Murmu.

National Film Awards 2023: Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Allu Arjun, R Madhavan, Pankaj Tripathi among others conferred with National Film Award on Tuesday by President Draupadi Murmu. The 69th National Film Awards ceremony 2023 took place in Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan.

Starting with Alia Bhatt who attended the ceremony with her husband Ranbir Kapoor won Best Actress Award for her performance in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. Her husband Ranbir was seen clicking her picture from audience as she recieved the prestigious award.

Sharing the award with Alia, Kriti Sanon also won the best actress award for her film ‘Mimi’; the film that gathered nation-wide appriciation to her extraordinary performance. Directed by Laxman Utekar, ‘Mimi’ portrayed mother’s love and advocates surrogacy as an alternative option to have kids.

Pankaj Tripathi also shared the screen with Kriti Sanon in the film ‘Mimi’. His role was of a driver at first but he turned out to be a supporting friend to Kriti and stayed by her side to raise the child the woman was carrying. His act in the film was so convincing that won him the national award.

Apart from Sanon, Pankaj Tripathi also won the National Film Award for Mimi, for best supporting character.

Allu Arjun’s pan-India film ‘Puspha: The Rise’ had already received public’s verdict as the film was a hit outside Tollywood. On Tuessday, Allu Arjun received the National Film Award for the Best Actor. He graced the ceremony with his wife, Sneha Reddy.

The sequel ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ is in production as of now but the film is scheduled to release on August 15, next year. The film also starred Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Jagadeesh, and Sunil in pivotal roles.

R Madhavan’s ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ won the National Film Award in the Best Feature Film. ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein’ actor also made his debut as a director with the film.

Dadasaheb Phalke Award To Waheeda Rehman

The highlight of the show as Waheeda Rehman who has won Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to Indian Cinema. The veteran actor has been in the cinema industry for 5 decades. On the ocassion of receiving the prestigious award, Rehman said, “I feel very honoured and humbled. I am here because of the industry. I have luckily been supported with top directors, actors, writers, dialogue writers, and musicians.”

“Makeup artists, hair and costume designers have also helped me. I want to share the award with all the departments of the film industry that they have given me respect and love from the very onset of my career. No one person can make a film and everyone is needed for it.,” she said.
