Famous director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, who made popular films like Bareilly Ki Barfi, Nil Battey Sannata, and Panga, announced a biopic about Infosys founders Sudha Murthy and Narayana Murthy four years ago.
Biopic Still In The Works
In a recent interview, Ashwiny confirmed that the script is still being worked on. She said, “We’re still writing that. It’s taking far too long, but I would love to tell their story.” While the project means a lot to her, she is currently focusing on her production work before returning to directing.
It is still unclear which actors will be chosen to play Sudha Murthy and Narayana Murthy.
Expanding Into Production
Ashwiny shared that she is producing several films and has teamed up with Tips Industries. She thanked Jaya Taurani, the daughter of Ramesh Taurani, for starting the partnership.
Talking about the industry, she said, “I got many calls because this partnership was a surprise. Usually, such deals happen between two men in power. But this is how change happens.” She believes this partnership will help tell more women-centered stories.
Prioritising Storytelling Over Commercial Success
Ashwiny explained that her main goal is not just to make money at the box office, but to create meaningful stories. She said, “We need to ask ourselves how willing we are to tell bold stories that are also commercially successful.”
While more details are not available yet, Ashwiny assured fans that the biopic is still in pre-production. However, viewers will need to wait a little longer to see the inspiring story of Sudha and Narayana Murthy on the big screen.
